The Metaverse is blowing up and promises to revolutionize the way we interact with information, products, and one another.
While the exact definition of the Metaverse is still being worked out, most pundits believe it will look a lot like the movie Ready Player One. In this vision of the future, people escape the gloomy realities of day-to-day life by logging into a vast virtual reality existence where they can interact with one another and participate in hyper-realistic 3-D adventures.With such large expectations and with so many implications for the future, who has the edge when it comes to patenting the technologies that will make the Metaverse a reality?

Andrea Davis is the Managing Director for Bodkin IP and a patent information professional with expertise in medical devices and the mechanical sector. She has an M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics from Lund University, Sweden, is a Qualified Patent Information Professional (QPIP) and, is a registered US patent agent. Andrea has over 20 yrs of experience, including work at a leading spinal medical device corporation. She is also the co-founder of the Patent Olympiad, an international patent searching competition. Andrea is actively involved in the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG) and the QPIP certification efforts. Database providers seek her to develop the next generation of tools and analytics with an eye towards accuracy and efficiency. Andrea is a frequent presenter of patent searching techniques at various conferences and training events.
Anthony (Tony) Trippe is Managing Director of Patinformatics, LLC. Patinformatics is an advisory firm specializing in patent analytics and landscaping to support decision making for technology based businesses. In addition to operating Patinformatics, Mr. Trippe is also an Adjunct Professor of IP Management and Markets at Illinois Institute of Technology teaching a course on patent analysis, and landscapes for strategic decision making. Tony is an influential thought leader in the patent analysis space, wrote the Guidelines for the Preparation of Patent Landscape Reports for the World Intellectual Property Organization, has been named one of the Top 300 IP Strategists by IAM Magazine, and is the developer of ML4Patents.com the industry's online resource for the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the field of Intellectual Property.
